E ngā mana huiaRangi ki te whenua, ngā maatā waka, ngā hau e whāNau mai, haere mai, whakarauika mai ki te whānau o te karetu o kaitaia

The above proverb relating to the kuaka, emphasizing the need to work as a collective to overcome challenges, encapsulates the way we do our business within our kura. We don't believe that we have all the answers but are passionate about working collaboratively, with whānau and the wider community, to ensure that our tamariki maximize their success.

What this success looks like differs depending on the student. The one given is that Kaitaia College is flexible enough to develop a programme that will support the pathway of your child. Whether your child is passionate about Taha Tinana (Sports), Taha Hinengaro (Curriculum), Taha Wairua (Spiritual Health), Taha Whānau (Leadership and Service) or Te hā ō te Mauri (Culture and the Arts), or a combination of the above, our kura will ensure that your child is connected to opportunities that support their success.

Our school is whānau focused. The whānau group system within the kura allows students to be supported by one key support Teacher and Dean throughout their time at the school. A strong tuakana/ mentoring system ensures that all new students are supported by their peers. In the classroom we seek to connect with local content as much as possible, partner with local business and foster the agency, innovation and resilience required to be successful in the fast paced world of today.

Students from Kaitaia College  continue to be among the top in their fields of endeavour. Within the kura we currently have world ranked athletes in a number of disciplines, a Nationally recognised kapa haka roopu, Internationally acclaimed musical and dance talent and one of the strongest NCEA improvement rates in the country. Many of our Old Boys and Old Girls from the kura are leaders within their chosen domain and their ongoing support remaining a crucial ingredient to our success both now and into the future.

Finally, our kura is your kura, we have an open door policy and are always interested in a korero no matter what the kaupapa.
